Worum es geht

Antoine Pierre | drums Ketija Ringa Karahona | flute Bo van der Werf | Baryton Jesse Van Ruller | Guitar Antoine Pierre presents his new quartet : “Fall Up”More than five years after “Suspended,” the third album of his electrifying band URBEX, Antoine Pierre returns to jazz as a leader with a brand-new quartet — much to our delight! Neither Next. Ape, whose songs trample the boundaries of genres, nor VAAGUE, his solo electro project with its bold technological edge, have steered him away from his first passion. On the contrary: his creativity has been more stimulated than ever by stepping outside his comfort zone. Through discoveries and encounters fostered by this voluntary genre-blending, he has taken the time to let ideas come to him and mature for this quartet. And here comes Antoine Pierre Fall Up. You’ll be swept away by Jesse Van Ruller’s electric guitar zeal, as he makes the basslines purr beneath his galloping arpeggios, thrilling squeals, and reassuring chords. You’ll groove to Antoine Pierre’s fierydrumming, scattered with almost cubist rhythmic patterns that are his trademark. You’ll feel wings sprouting to the discreet vibrato of Ketija Ringa Karahona’s flute, and fins growing to the aquatic, both powerfuland light, tone of Bo van Der Werf’s baryton saxophone…The quartet proposes an escapade into a landscape at the crossroads of the four elements: a glowing sunset, feet in the sea, hair in the wind, soft sand between the toes, and crystallized salt on the skin. The compositions resonate with the sunny music scene of Los Angeles, echoing the joyful and moving oddities of albums by Pino Palladino, Sam Wilkes, Genevieve Artadi, Blake Mills, or Louis Cole. With a little detour through Thelonious Monk’s living room, and a distant wink to Olivier Messiaen...
